My boyfriend and I have tried to come for happy hour twice now and both times we were unsuccessful in getting seated before 6:30pm. I highly recommend making a reservation if you are trying to do happy hour, it has been packed every time we've gone from 4:30-6:30pm, even in the middle of the week. They have it every day and it's a good deal. I'll have to take my own advice and make a reservation next time lol. By 7pm, the restaurant was pretty empty after the happy hour rush. Service was nice, everyone was attentive and nice and the music was a good background level of chill house and wasn't obnoxiously loud pop like many other places. The meal started off on a good vibe. We started with miso soup and tempura. The soup had a nice miso flavor, but I wish there was more tofu and seaweed. The pieces of daikon in there were interesting, I've never had miso soup from a sushi restaurant with that in there. The tempura was really good, and I liked the option of the tempura sauce and seasoned salt to flavor the pieces. My boyfriend and I liked the sweet potato and eggplant pieces the most. The shrimp was also slightly different than expected, with a crispy panko crust instead of the standard tempura coating. I liked this change as it stayed crispy as we ate the rest of the tempura first! For sushi, we ordered the golden state roll and the deluxe 12 piece nigiri tasting. The roll came out first, and I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It was super unique with the matchsticks of apple included in the inside of the roll. The spicy scallop was sooo good and I loved the lightly seared albacore on top. The yuzu tobiko added a nice citrus flavor that went well with the apple and contrasted with the spice from the scallop. It was such an inventive roll and made me want to explore more of their menu. The deluxe 12 piece tasting was a feast for the eyes and mouth! It was presented so beautifully, and I was ready to dig in. Every piece of fish was delicious, with my boyfriend and I loving the scallop, amaebi, hamachi, and saba. There were more that I didn't know the name of, but they were all so fresh, with a good balance with lighter and leaner fishes and heavier buttery cuts. The rice and fish portions are definitely on the smaller side, but I still appreciated how fresh and expertly prepared each piece of nigiri was. I was pleasantly surprised by this meal, everything was really good, with a slight twist on what you might expect from a neighborhood sushi spot. I can't wait to come back for happy hour and to try out more of their menu!
Great spot for sushi happy hour. Happy hour is everyday from 4:30 to 6:30 and they have a menu full of $6 items including drinks, rolls, and appetizers. My favorite items are the garlic edamame, the attic char and avocado roll, and the shrimp tempura roll. It's a great value and a fun spot, happy hour is lively so I usually get a day of reservation.
Love a solid happy hour. So many good options to choose from - absolutely can't go wrong. The service was super quick and flexible. We had an hour before the reservation for 7:30 showed up and they gave us our food in such a timely manner. Very chill, perfect happy hour vibes at a solid price.
This place surprised us. The first time we came for happy hour we weren't particularly impressed and thought everything was just fine, but we went back recently for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. In particular, their vegetarian rolls were excellent and flavorful. They also had a vegan spicy tuna roll, which was unlike anything I've tried in the city!
Fresh and yummy! Sorry, no photos! Keep in mind that they close at 8:30, so last call is at 8:15PM. I ordered spicy margarita with my meal, and it was pretty good.
I recently tried this sushi spot and was pleasantly surprised. Despite visiting during rush hour, it wasn't crowded or noisy, which was nice. The ambiance was average but cozy, and the waiters were attentive. Now, onto the sushi. It was good overall, with decent portions of fish and rice. The flavors were on point, especially with their tasty sauces. I tried a few rolls, and the Double-double was my favorite. Considering the quality, the bill of around $70 wasn't bad at all. In summary, it's a great spot for sushi lovers, with good food, cozy vibes, and attentive service.
Came through for happy hour! Everything on their HH menu is $6. They had some really yummy cut rolls. My fave was the arctic char and avocado. They have some cool different types of fish and I had to google what things were lol. Even though the waitress gave me a rundown, she went fast and I couldn't keep up lol. It felt really authentic and the price was so good! We didn't have a res but were able to get seated at the bar. The service was really attentive and friendly. Cute little spot. Recommend!!
From rolls to small plates, this delicious and authentic Japanese restaurant is high up on my list of fun spots. Of course, I've been to their happy hour and love being able to sample so much. This weekend, we tried them for dinner out with a group-- choosing to go family style with everyone trying a little bit of a lot of fish and fun. Service was delightful and quick, our server gave us amazing recommendations on everything from which sake to try next to which roll we might like. Her ability to guide our dinner was unmatched and allowed us to experience a wonderful dinner.
